 |
Jay "Jaybird" Martin #16605
Collects cans and whatever strikes his fancy. Vice President
of the Schell's Border Batch. Known as the "outspoken one" he
speaks his mind and don't give f*** who likes it! Loves great
beer. Drinks oatmeal stout for breakfast and on his cornflakes.
Jay is known by many other alias which can be seen elsewhere on this
website. |
|
 |
Teri "The Beer Chef" Martin - Teri is
always cooking up great things with beer to eat with beer. Teri
does a little something called "The show" and it's a little spicy if you
know what I mean! The neighbors love to watch her put on the show
too. She
loves all kinds of beer except for pale ales. You gotta love that
quality in a woman, right Jay. She also holds the very important
title of designated driver. |
|
 |
Murray "The Legend" (aka Furray Sock) Srock
# - Murray has earned the title Minnesota Legend with such acts like
dipping a full glass from the slop bucket at the antique beer tasting.
He is a charter member of the Schell's Border Batch Chapter. He
loves Grain Belt! He collects many different Minnesota beer items.
He is a great supporter of chapter events and belongs to many chapters
as well as the BCCA. |
|
 |
Bob "Shoeless Bob" (aka Beerhound Bob)
Jackson # - Bob is a long time collector who can smell a beer or a
brewpub a mile away. He always has the brewpubs mapped out for any
collector show or CANvention. He is editor of the Northstar news
and attends many shows. He loves to party with a good beer in hand
and he bears a remarkable resemblance to
Heinrich
Himler. He has been known to take a nap in public on occasion. |
|
 |
Charles "in charge" Martin -
One of the youngest collectors in the hobby. Charles has seen more
CANventions and trade shows than many adults in the hobby. He loves to
go to the shows and root beer is his drink. He was even spotted
hangin with Kid Rock at CANvention 04. And that's no Bull Schmidt! |
|
The Next Generation
of Outlaws |
 |
Vance "Sir-Vance-A-Lot" Donner -
Vance is the noble home brewer of the Outlaws. In his Donner-Brau
Brewery he cooks up brews like Cinnamon-Oatmeal Stout, Russian Imperial
Stout, California Common and many other fine brews which we are always
willing to help him drink. He's also a Schell's man. Which
makes him a good man. He likes a good Double IPA for breakfast on
Saturday and likes a good party or beerey event. |
 |
Dave "Denver" Nelson - Dave is known
throughout Minnesota as the plumber who looks most like
John Denver.
He's always spotting breweriana as he forages in peoples basements.
He is great supporter of the Border Batch and never misses an event.
Dave is also the "poker" at Bockfest. |
 |
Barry Travis - Barry is known as the "The
Creative One". His artwork adorns our newsletter, website and
show flyers. He created our new Border Batch logo and the Schell's
Outlaw logo. His work is also found in the Northstar News and the
BCCA Magazine. He also does various entertainment gigs and you
should see him karaoke. He does a mean version of Mustang Sally.
Always searching for that next elusive piece of breweriana or can.
He gives a lot back to the hobby with his art and creativity. |
 |
Duane "Dewey" Schmidt - Dewey
is a newcomer to the hobby but the "force is with him". He has
already brought in a new member and he has the Outlaw spirit. You
will find him front and center at Bockfest with beer in hand. He
enjoys the hobby and is learning fast about the Outlaw ways. |
 |
Mark "Stubie Do" Stueber -
Stube is the clown prince of beer. He is a one man party just
waiting to happen. Give him a bottle of 100 proof schnapps and a
case Schell's and lookout. No seriously "look out"!
Just ask Beer Dave or the hotel desk clerk at Guzzle 2004, or the taxi
driver that took him back to his hotel. He also is Moe one
of the Bockstooges. On the serious side Mark is a true Outlaw.
He hosts the Outlaw Christmas party at his place, he is donating an
antique Schell's neon to the be raffled off by the chapter and he
is arranging a place in the woods (anyone hear dueling banjos?) near New
Ulm for a Border Batch Bash this fall. He truly has the Outlaw
spirit within. |
 |
Ted Marti - The Ultimate Outlaw! Ted is
a 5th generation descendant of August Schell. Ted and his
ancestors are part of the reason we are all here in the first place.
In Outlaw fashion Ted runs a small regional brewery in a small Minnesota
town. He continues to stand up the big beer barrons who have run
most of his contemporaries out of business a long time ago. He
maintains Schell Brg. Co. as an independent family owned business.
He makes the kind of beers the big boys can't even dream about, plus
Schell's Original. And recently when Minnesota Brg. Co. went
bankrupt, Ted purchased the Grain Belt label and is preserving it's
Minnesota heritage as well as it's great taste. Were it not for
Ted and Schell's the Border Batch and Outlaws would have no home and no
namesake brewery. Prosit! |
 |
Bob "Beer Can" Keenan -
Bob has been around the hobby since the early days. He was in the
liqour business and had his own line of Bob's Special beer cans.
He was a familar face at all the area shows and truly had the Outlaw
Spirit. Sadly Bob passed away in August 2005 just days before the
Leinenkugel's show. |
 |
Gary Pelletier - Gary is a fun
loving collector who makes it to every show that he able to get to.
He is always making donations to help out the chapter and the hobby.
He has the Outlaw Spirit and does all he can to pitch in and help out
with shows. He likes good beer and good time with good friends. |
 |
Justin "Beano" Terwilliger
- Justin has been attending shows with his father (Tom) since he was
about 10 years old. Butz Palmer got his collection started with
some cans after the Schell's show one year. He wrote his first
newsletter article when he was 11 years old. He loves Grain Belt
and Schell's and trying new beers. He was born to be an Outlaw. |
 |
Dave "Patterwiggle" Patterson
- Also known as DP. Dave is the quiet one. Always there
just having fun and collecting those Minnesota common cans in every
variation he can find. Loves a good beer and does all he can to
participate and help the chapter. A true Schell's Outlaw! |
 |
Robert "Butz" Palmer -
Butz is an original charter member of the Border Batch. He's been
collecting for years and is well known in the beer can and breweriana
hobby. He's also one of the infamous Concord Singers that
performed at CANvention in 1982 in Mpls, MN. Butz has helped get
youngsters started collecting by giving them cans and things to start
their collections. He and his wife Janet are always in attendance
at Border Batch events and do whatever they can to help the chapter. |
|
Steve "The Hamm's Bear" & Sue "Mama Bear" Miner
- Steve is one of the founding members of the Schell's Border Batch.
His wife Sue has been there with him through 25 plus years of collecting
and having fun. They are always ready to help the chapter and
great supporters of chapter events and functions. Obviously
by their nicknames you can guess what they collect. |
 |
Bryan "Beer Goggles" Madsen
Bryan is the Brewer/Outlaw. He considers these two pursuit’s the
most worthy endeavors one can aspire towards in life. Bryan enjoys
countless hours in his home brewery & writes the dryly sarcastic
column “Life Through Beer Goggles” for the newsletter. Bryan is a
serious daydreamer & would someday like to bring his fantasy
Brewpub/Bar - The Thin line - to fruition. Bryan also day dreams
about being a heavy metal star. He’s also been known to climb a roof
or two after a beer or three.
|
 |
Ben Malloy
Ben has some of the most diversely eclectic interests - in fact far
too many to begin listing here. He can be a quiet Outlaw until you
get him rolling on one of his many interests, hobbies, or wild
plans. He is also co-daydreamer in the Thinline Brewpub/Bar concept.
Ben is frequently easily identified by his rather appropriate
leather “Outlaw” hat.
